(An update to an old favorite basket)

Materials

YT Package (includes: handle, eyelets, 3" base, ribbon & wreath)
3/8" Flat Flat - spokes, 1 row of weaving & inner rim
11/64" Flat Oval - weavers & lashing
1/4" Flat Flat - rim row
 

#1 Round - twining
3/8"Flat Oval - outer rim
Seagrass - rim filler
Hot Glue Gun for attaching ribbon & wreath

Cut 16 spokes from 3/8" FF each 7" long. Soak briefly. Insert the spokes evenly around the base (gluing the spokes into the slit is optional.) Twine with #1R twice around the base keeping the spokes flat. Do Not Cut The Round Reed. Gently upset the spokes and twine two more times around, encouraging the spokes to go upward. (This will be a total of 4 time around of twining. Also remember that your top diameter should be 4".)

Weave 14 rows of start and stop using 11/64" FO. Then weave 1 row 3/8" FF, 1 row 11/64" FO, and 1 row 1/4" FF natural (rim row).

Pack well. Choose your handle spokes - these will be spokes which are opposite each other and will be cut off flush. Position your eyelets here. Cut and tuck all remaining spokes, bending over the extended wire on both sides of the eyelet. Rim with 3/8" FF (inner), 3/8" FO (outer), seagrass between rims, and lash with 11/64" FO. Attach the wire handle.

Gluing On The Ribbon And Wreath:
Decide which will be the front of your basket and then find the center spoke. Center the "Merry Christmas" ribbon on the 3/8" FF weaver. Hot glue a small dab on every other spoke as you bring the ribbon around to the back where you can overlap it. Cut off excess ribbon. Hot glue the wreath on. Refer to photo.
