From 5/8" FF cut 32 spokes each 11" long. Briefly soak spokes. Taper each spoke for about 2" to a width of 3/8" at the end (figure 1)

Insert all 32 spokes into the groove of the pre-stained base, smooth side down, spacing them evenly around the base (figure 2). Divide base into 4 quarters with 7 spokes inserted in each quarter.

Insert two strands of #2 R into the groove of the base. Weave and chase for about 1/2", keeping spokes flat and weaving tight. Then carefully bend up the spokes by pulling on the weavers. DO NOT CREASE THE SPOKES. Continue to weave and chase with #2 R until just past the curve - about 1" total. Spokes should be standing upright. End #2 R weavers.

Weave approximently 27 rows of start and stop, alternating 11/64" FO dyed and 7mm FF, starting and ending with 11/64" FO dyed. Diameter top of basket should be about 10", with a height of 7 1/4" - 7 1/2". Add more rows if needed for your particular pot. Rim row is 3/8" FF. Pack well, cut and tuck spokes. Rim with 5/8" FO, seagrass between rims and lash with 11/64" FO.
