Cut 16 spokes from 1/2" FF each 10" long. Dampen the spokes. Insert the spokes (smooth side down) evenly around the base (gluing in the spokes is optional). Twine 2 times around the base with #2R.

Upset the spokes and weave the following start and stop row:

13 rows 7mm FF
1 row 1/4" Holly Berry Red Maple Basket Strips (dampen the strip and wipe on paper towel)
2 rows 1/2"FF
1 row 1/4" Holly Berry Red Maple Basket Strip (dampen the strip and wipe on paper towel)
2 rows 7mm FF

Pack well. Cut and tuck spokes. Rim with 1/2" FO outside, 1/2" FF inside, seagrass between rims and lash with 3/16 FO

Adding the Curls:
Soak the 1/4" Evergreen Maple Basket Strip in cold water for 1-2 minutes. Blot on paper towel, then put into a plastic bag to "mellow" for 5-10 minutes. I found the maple was easier to work with by cutting the strand into 2-3 shorter pieces. Insert the end of the strand behind a vertical spoke, give a slight twist and insert the end behind the vertical spoke in the row below. DO NOT let the maple dry out. Continue around the basket working up and down. Refer to photo.
