Materials
3" x 6" Oblong Wood Base 4" Round O/N Easy Flex Handle Smiling Flowers Buttons (Button colors may vary from those shown) 3/8" Flat Flat - spokes & rims	#2 Round - twining 11/64" Flat Oval - weavers & lashing 3mm Flat Oval - weavers Seagrass - rim filler #2 Round - Dyed Green

Cut 24 spokes each 8" long from 3/8" FF. Soak briefly. Mark the center of the 3" x 6" oblong base (3"). Insert a spoke at the center mark (smooth side down) and another spoke on the opposite side. These are your "handle spokes". Evenly space the remaining spokes around the base - 11 on each side of the handle spokes. If the groove in your base is too narrow to insert the spokes, run sandpaper around the groove several times, and/or sand down the ends of each spoke (you want a tight fit). Twine 1 time around the base with #2R. Dampen the spokes and gently upset them.

Weave 13 rows of 11/64" FO start and stop. Thread 2 or 3 buttons onto a strand of 3mm FO, making sure the smiling flowers are UP and weave this strand around the basket. Weave 2 more rows of 11/64" FO before adding another row of buttons, which are threaded onto 3mm FO. Again, weave 2 rows of 11/64" FO and then another row of buttons onto 3mm FO (I found it necessary to weave 2 rows of 11/64" FO between the button rows). After you have woven the 3rd row of buttons, weave 5 rows of 11/64" FO.

Pack well as you go. Cut and tuck the spokes and insert the handle. Rim with 3/8" FF inside and outside, seagrass between the rims, and lash with 11/64" FO.

Use #2R green dyed reed to add stems to the flowers.
