Cut 22 spokes from 1/2" FF each 32" long. Cut 10 filler spokes from 7mm FF each 16" long. Mark the centers of several spokes and filler spokes on the wrong side. Layout 11 spokes horizontally alternating with 10 filler spokes. Line up the center marks. Weave 1 center spoke vertically starting over the horizontal spoke and weaving under the filler spokes. Weave in 5 more spokes on each side of this center spoke. Adjust base to 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" square. Fold the filler spokes to the inside of the base and tuck under the 3rd spoke of base weaving. Trim off any excess. Repeat on the other end. Twine once around the base with #2R. Upset the spokes. Weave 13 rows 3/8" FF start and stop, adding the overlays at any time (I chose to add overlays on every other spoke). Pack well before weaving in the dyed weavers. Weave 5 rows start and stop with 1/4" FF dyed alternating red and black, then 1 row 3/8" FF, and 1 row 7mm FF(rim row). Pack well. Place the handle on center opposite spokes. Fold and tuck spokes over the extending rod. Cut and tuck the remaining spokes in the usual way. Rim with 5/8" FO, seagrass between rims, and double lash with 3/16" FO. Spray with Weaver's Stain.
