Materials
8" x 9" Flat Top 'D' handle 5/8" Flat Flat - spokes, inner & outer rims 3/8" Flat Flat - filler spokes & rim row 7mm Flat Flat - weavers 1/4" Flat Flat - dyed dark green & walnut #2 Round - twining	#2 R - a small piece dyed dark green for grass sprigs & a small amount dyed walnut for "cattails" Seagrass - rim filler 11/64" Flat Oval - lashing 1/4" Braided Seagrass - approx. 7 feet Mallard Basket Buckle ®

From 5/8" FF cut 4 spokes each 24" long & 7 spokes each 22" long. Also cut 4 filler spokes from 3/8" FF each 16" long. Soak briefly.

Put the handle down horizontal and lay 2 of the long spokes on each side (smooth side down), alternating with the 4 filler spokes, which will be smoothe side up. Weave in 1 center spoke vertically (smooth side down) starting under the horizontal spoke and over the filler spokes. Weave in 3 more spokes on each side of this center spoke. Adjust base to measure approximately 7 7/8" x 4 3/4". Fold the filler spokes to the underneath side of the base and tuck under the 3rd spoke of base weaving. Trim off any excess. Repeat on the other end. Twine once around the base with #2R (this acts as a holding row). Upset the spokes and weave the following rows start and stop, keeping the spokes up straight, as they do want to slant:

3 rows 1/4" braided seagrass - the mallard is woven on the 2nd row of these (I butted the braided seagrass inside)

1 row 1/4" FF - walnut
1 row 7mm FF
1 row 3/8" FF - rim row

Pack well. Cut & tuck spokes. Rim with 5/8" FF inside & out, seagrass between & lash with 11/64" FO.
Refer to photo for placement of grass sprigs & cattails (A small amount of Insta or Maxi Cure Glue is helpful).
Spray with Clear Weaver's Stain.
