Basket Size: 4 1/2" top dimension, 3 1/2" tall height of basket (6 1/2" tall including handle) Cut 20 spokes from 3/8" Flat Flat each 6" long. Dampen slightly. With the smooth side down, insert 4 spokes on each size and 1 spoke in each corner (gluing the spokes into the slit is optional). Twine 1 time around the base with #1 round. Upset the spokes. Weave the following rows of start and stop, squaring the corners as you weave: 1 row 1/4" flat red 1 row 1/4" flat green 1 row 1/4" flat red 7 rows 3/6" flat oval 1 row 1/4" flat red 1 row 1/4" flat green 1 row 1/4" flat red 1 row 1/4" flat natural (rim row) Pack well. Cut and tuck the spokes. Rim with 3/8" flat, seagrass between rims, and lash with 3/16" flat oval. To attach handle - find the center on opposite sides. Create a space under the rim. Insert the wire from the outside of the basket inward, then gently spread the handle slightly and insert on the opposite side. Bend the wire up over the rim and back down to the outside. |
