Cut 20 spokes from 3/8" FF each 7" long. Soak briefly. Insert the spokes evenly around the base (gluing the spokes into the slit is optional, but I found it very helpful.) Twine with #2R twice around the base keeping the spokes flat. End off the Round Reed. Gently upset the spokes and weave the following rows start and stop: 14 rows of 3/16" FO. 1 row 3/8" FF 2 rows 3/16" FO Pack well. Choose your handle spokes, which are opposite each other. These will be spokes that are cut off flush. Position your eyelets . Cut and tuck all remaining spokes, bending over the extended wire on both sides of the eyelets. Rim with 3/8" FF, seagrass between rims, and lash with 11/64" FO. Attach the HD wire handle. Bow: insert an 18" piece of dyed 1/4" FF reed, rough side out, behind where a 3/8"FF spoke and 3/8"FF weaver intersect (refer to photo). Center this piece. Make a loop to the right and bring the end back behind the spoke. Do the same on the left side. Slightly twist the ends and insert them under the second row of weaving. Cut ends to size. |
