Cut 1 spoke from 3/4" FF 20" long, and 2 spokes from 1/2" FF each 20" long. Then cut 9 spokes from 1/2" FF each 14" long. Soak briefly and mark the center of a few spokes. Lay the 3 long spokes (20" long ones) horizontal with the 3/4" FF spoke in the middle. Weave in vertically 9 spokes starting with the center spoke and weaver over the first spoke (you will be under the wide spoke.) Base measures 8 1/4" X 2 1/4". Weave a "holding row" of 1/4" FF, mitering the corners. Upset the spokes and weave the following rows of start & stop: 1 row 1/2" FF 1 row 1/4" FF green 1 row 1/4" FF red 6 rows 1/4" FF natural 1 row 1/4" FF red 1 row 1/4" FF green 2 rows 1/4" FF natural Pack well. Cut and tuck spokes - don't forget to put the eyelets on the center spoke. Rim with 3/8" FO, seagrass between rims, and lash with 11/64" FO. Attach the wire handle and stain if you choose. I hot glued on some greenery and red berries for a more "festive look". |
